As the holiday season approaches, it’s the perfect time to try some new wines!

Wondering what wine to serve your guests over the Holidays? Need to bring a bottle of wine to the Holiday dinner and want to be sure to bring something people will like? Let me help!

Just want to know what to buy?  Skip straight to downloading my FREE Holiday Wine Guide to get expert wine picks and tasting notes for your holiday celebrations!

Fun Fact: Did you know that most of what you "taste" in wine actually comes from your sense of smell? That’s why wine tasting is a multi-step process: look, smell, taste, and think. Let’s explore some top wines for the holidays and how to taste them like a pro!

Sparkling: Crémant de Bourgogne
For a festive sparkler, try Crémant de Bourgogne—a bubbly from Burgundy that offers Champagne-style quality without the steep price. Focus on its acidity: does it make you want to drool? High acidity wines like Crémant will have that effect! This wine is perfect to serve before dinner but also pairs with so many different kinds of foods.

White Wine: Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc Blend
If you’re serving a white, go for a Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc blend. It has bright acidity but a smooth mouthfeel, perfect for pairing with creamy dishes. These wines tend to have light to medium body. Think of the body like milk: light, medium, or full—and this one is right in the middle, like 2% milk.

Red Wine: Cabernet Franc
For red wine, Cabernet Franc is a fantastic choice with turkey or ham. It’s less tannic than Cabernet Sauvignon, with herbal, earthy notes that complement savory dishes. When tasting, pay attention to that dry feeling in your mouth—this is caused by tannins.

Dessert Wine: Tawny Port
Lastly, for dessert, Tawny Port is a rich, sweet wine that pairs perfectly with pecan pie. Look for its sweetness and warming alcohol sensation.
