Master of Wine Q&A with Tim Hanni
Thursday, September 12th 5pm PST
Cork Crew Community Event (Zoom) Tim trained as a chef and became one of the first two U.S. Masters of Wine in 1990 (previously they were all from Britain, and even now there are only 45. He was labeled the wine "antisnob" by The Wall Street Journal and has been known to call food and wine pairings "bullshit!"
He is the author of a book titled, "Why You Like The Wines You Like" and the visionary behind "Vinotypes," a tool for consumers to learn more about their own preferences.

Exploring Abruzzo Virtual Tasting Party

Cork Crew Virtual Tasting Party (Zoom) Abruzzo is considered one of Italy’s most under-the-radar regions to visit, and I think you could say the same about the wine!
We’ll be trying their most popular red grape: Montepulciano (not to be confused with the Sangiovese growing region of Montalcino) AND a grape that might sound more like cheese: Pecorino!

Wine Importer Q&A with Nossa Imports

Blind Tasting is simply tasting wine without seeing the label. Some people blind taste wine to guess what they're drinking. Others may blind taste so they can rate a wine without any bias. Either way, it's bound to be a unique and exciting experience.

It’s time to change that. We’re going to focus on one particular region in Bordeaux known as Saint Emilion. And while many folks associate Bordeaux with Cabernet Sauvignon, the region of Saint Emilion focuses on Merlot (often blended with Cabernet Franc). Vermouth 101 Virtual Tasting Party

Cork Crew Virtual Tasting Party (Zoom) Did you know that Vermouth is actually a type of wine?
Specifically it’s what we call an aromatized wine. It is typically made up of at least 75% wine along with at least one herb from the artemisia family (tarragon, wormwood, or mugwart for example.) Vermouth is made all over the world, though many consider Italy’s Piedmont and France’s Savoie as the heart of production. There are also many different types of Vermouth: sweet, dry, extra dry, white, red, and more! This event is free for Cork Crew members! Trivia Fun!

Cork Crew Community Event (Zoom) In the spirit of the Holidays, I always like to end our year of tastings with a fun round of Trivia! We’ll do multiple rounds with ranging topics all *somewhat* related to wine! Think pop culture, fun facts, wine 101, and more!
I might even create questions from our past Cork Crew tastings, who knows!!! But don’t worry, you won’t need to study up for this! The questions aren’t coming from a textbook and if we get enough people joining, we’ll play on teams! It’s more meant to be fun than anything.
